THE HISTORY

The CWMC was pioneered in the Philippines by Living Springs International. It uses materials from the renowned ※Perspectives on the World Christian Movement,§ and Dr. Jonathan Lewis* three volume, ※World Mission§ book. The CWMC was designed initially for use in the Philippines. Since 1994, when the first edition was produced, more than 6000 Filipinos have undertaken the course. It has been a major tool that has helped to inspire, educate and mobilize the Filipino Church into World Christian Mission. The Filipino Church today is one of the top ten missionary sending countries in the world!

Over recent years the CWMC has found enthusiastic acceptance in many other countries. It is now being conducted in countries throughout Asia, Africa, Europe and Australasia.

THE MAIN COMPONENTS

A prayer guide booklet has been produced that provides information on the world*s major unreached peoples.

A lecture introduction, using multi-media, provides a helpful lesson overview.

Group interaction is one of the many highlights of the course and provides a dynamic learning environment.

Short teaching and inspirational videos, by some of today*s leading mission experts, supplement the readings.

Interactive cross-cultural activities, that press home the importance of culture and worship, are an unforgettable experience.

Readings for each session involve about sixteen pages of easy and manageable articles, written by leading authorities on history, theology and missions. Worksheets are given to reinforce the key points in each chapter.

THE FORMATS

Because the CWMC was designed for local church use, it can be conducted using a number of formats. Popular formats are as follows:

1.     One evening per week, over eight weeks 每 this requires approximately 2 hours of classroom time each meeting. On the ninth week, it will climax with an impactful full day programme to integrate and consolidate all learning.

2.     A one week full-time intensive course.

Other formats can be considered but must first be cleared by the Course Director.
